Round 13: South Sydney versus Gold Coast
Another danger game for Souths, up against an inconsistent Gold Coast side and we are missing a few key players that are recovering from State of Origin.
The game will test our depth again and we will need to put in another big performance like we did last week.
Check out the Rabbitohs team lineup.
The Outsider’s Fearless Five
Welcome back AJ
It’s great to see Alex Johnston return from injury and he will be hungry to maintain the fullback position.
He adds a lot of zip to our attack and makes the left side even stronger.
Make or break
Anthony Seibold is resting his Origin Stars this week and this will either make or break him with the coach potatoes. If we win then he will be heralded as a genius and if we lose he will cop it.
Either way, it looks like Seibold is taking a long term approach and wants the boys to be fit and firing towards the business end of the season.
For Peats sake
Nathan Peats is up against his old club again and always puts in a strong physical performance with lots of banter.
Nathan has a point to prove after being snubbed for Origin selection and could be the key in getting the Gold Coast over the line.
If our forwards are able to bash the Gold Coast out of the contest early then they’ll be easy pickings.
Sam Burgess plays his 150th game for South Sydney tonight which is quite an achievement considering his 2015 hiatus to rugby union.
The players will lift for this occasion and hopefully get the points for the legend in the making.
Flat and fast
The surface at Robina is flat and fast so Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker will need to be precise with their kicking. Our outside backs will also need to be careful and not let any kicks bounce otherwise it’ll be creating opportunities for the opposition.
The Outsider’s prediction
The Gold Coast are no easy beats plus we are missing a few big names so if we expect to turn up and win then we are in for a shock. If Souths click then this game could be a blow out score running away winners 13+.
Wherever you’re watching the game, I hope you have a good one. I’ll be back after the game to give you my verdict.
